Welcome to what will soon be known as Bountiful Hearth! Within the next week or two, I will be moving this website over to a new one, with a new name for the non-profit organization. I chose Bountiful Hearth for the name of this organization as it describes what this organization is about; giving abundantly, generous in bestowing gifts and a vital, creative center and home.
Currently, this organization will be located in Delta county, Colorado. Once it is established, there are plans for growth across the country. For now, it will be serving all of Delta, Mesa and Montrose counties. Bountiful Hearth will be offering six (6) different, interrelated therapies, with plans of providing a center for people to come and participate in the various activities, as well as reaching out to the community. Programs will be established for schools, senior citizens/nursing homes and other public places. These six therapies are: animal, art, equine, horticulture, music and nature.
Currently, planned activities will include interacting with animals (horses, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, poultry, dogs, cats), riding and working with horses, goat pack trips in the forest, working with dogs, various arts and crafts activities and learning opportunities, studying plants, growing flowers and vegetables, learning about herbs and wildflowers, playing musical instruments and singing, engaging with nature on hikes and exploring the great outdoors. Other potential programs will be courses made available for home school groups, college courses, internships, public out-reach by supplying dogs for a library program, court dogs, therapy dogs, chickens and horticulture programs for senior citizen and nursing homes, connecting with other local groups and working with them, and self-esteem/self-confidence classes for elementary age children as well as high school students and adults.
To help launch Bountiful Hearth, I am currently looking for volunteers for:
- Minimum of two (2) Board of Directors
- Someone knowledgeable in PowerPoint and/or creating videos (These will be used to show potential donors what Bountiful Hearth is and the Mission and Vision Statement.)
I also need to locate a place to create and build the first Center. Specifically, I am looking for:
- Minimum of 5 acres of agricultural land, more preferred, outside the city limits of Delta, Colorado but in the Delta area for easy access from the North Fork, Surface Creek, Montrose and Grand Junction areas.
- A residence on the property where I can live and work on and with the non-profit directly.
- An insulated building on the property that can be used as classrooms.
- A greenhouse.
- Outbuildings and fenced paddocks or fields for the livestock.
- An area and building for poultry.
- An area for an arena and potential covered/enclosed arena.
- A large parking area, with easy access.
The “perfect” location would be easily accessible from Hwy. 50, have access to public lands for trail rides and walking/hiking, irrigation, and no close neighbors. Other than the house, these items can be acquired later as the Center grows and expands.
Plans are to acquire the property and residence the fall of 2022, with the goal of opening to the public in the spring of 2023. Donations or any assistance is greatly appreciated. Bountiful Hearth is currently registered as an entity in the State of Colorado, and an application for non-profit status is currently being created. We look forward to hearing from you at contactus@bountifulhearth.org with any questions or thoughts you may have.
